Chapter Seven
The next day Molly revealed in the afterglow of the night spent with her love. Molly never found out what Kyle did about the lost shoe, but she kept the other on her dresser as a trophy. She had pulled it offâ Molly, the beautiful girl. She spent one memorable night with the man of her dreams. It seemed like her feet hadnât touched the ground since the previous night. Somehow facing Silvia hadnât even crossed her mind.
âOur Christmas vacation officially begins,â said Molly. âFirst we tell Santa what we want. Mine of course is simple, Sebastian Tate, done, now you Henry. Whatâs that, a dog biscuit? Iâm sending the memo to Santa.â
Slipping into her Grinch pajamas with Frosty slippers and her pink satin Santa hat she started mixing up eggnog. âOh goody, Elf is on. Weâll watch while we bake sugar cookies.â
Determined to salvage the joy of the season Molly set out for a night of Christmas cheer. Three eggnogs later with Mariah Careyâs Christmas CD blaring in the background, Molly heard a knock on the door.
âHey girl, rocking it hard on a Saturday night,â said Kyle. âCan I borrow some vodka?â
âBorrow, you mean âhave,â donât you?â she said as she skipped across the room, swaying a little.
âHow much of the good stuff did you have, my little elf?â
âThree, four, whoâs counting?â
âDo you want to go out with me and the gang tonight? Weâre heading out for some ice skating.â
âNo thanks, Iâm putting on a concert for Henry. Weâre good.â
âOkay, by all means, rock on!â said Kyle as he slipped out of the apartment.
âI will, thanks,â she answered as she swayed to âAll I Want for Christmas.â Standing on the coffee table with the remote as her microphone, she sang her heart out. Pulling out her best dance moves, wiggling, shimming and even a kick, she serenaded Henry who was up on his hind legs wearing his Christmas red and green sweater and antlers. Her voice was sweet with the exception of that final note, an ear piercing, glass shattering, God-awful note. Bowing to Henry, she paused when she heard a faint clapping.
She turned, then nearly fell off the coffee table when she saw Sebastian standing in her doorway. There he was, in the flesh, in her apartment, Sebastian Tate himself. âGeez, Santa, you work fast,â she mumbled.
âThat was undoubtedly the most disturbing display of holiday cheer I have ever experienced.â
âThank you,â she said, staggering down from her stage.
âYes, I did mean that as a compliment,â Sebastian said. âThe final note, wow, speechless. I donât have a word for it really.â
âI tend to squeak a bit on the high notes,â she said trying to gain composure acknowledging he was actually standing in her living room. At first, she thought perhaps him to be a Christmas aberration or a ghostly visit as Scrooge experienced. But after a few seconds she accepted it was him, beautiful Sebastian standing in front of her. He realized it was me and came for me.
